The Caninghi
- Boat Review
The Caninghi - pronounced kuh -ning -gee, is a cross between a canoe and a dinghy. This is a 'world-first' dedicated stand up fishing canoe.
Stability
This is craft is very stable, as one would expect from a "dedicated stand up fishing canoe". We put it to the test with two anglers actively fishing, a camera, camera man, sound gear and sound recordist all on board at one time. If it wasn't stable that little exercise would have been very costly indeed. The shape of the bow and the design of the chines not only make it stable, but relatively dry in choppy water.
As the craft sits nice and low to the water, it is easy to manoeuvre even in contrary winds.
Function
Launching the Caninghi is a treat as you will not need a dedicated boat ramp. Due to its lightweight construction, a small 4 cylinder car will easily cope with the load on the roof racks. Out of the way fishing spots have just been opened up to anglers who like the option of being able to stand up and safely move around.
Stowage
The Caninghi has sub gunwale storage that allows small to medium size items to be stored out of the way while fishing. Marine battery mounts are included (one either side) so that once again the floor is kept unencumbered.
