Barramundi are one of those fish that anglers just can't get enough of. They are aggressive predators, take a range of baits, lures and flies and often perform stunning aerial jumps to gain their freedom. They have a presence about them that embodies what we love about fishing - a sense of achievement.
Barra live in a variety of environments, requiring different methods and levels of angler skill to catch them. In DVD#11, we used weedless surface plastics on barra in the impoundments - with fantastic results.
In this latest story, we are using the same technique on wild barra
in the billabongs around Katherine in the Northern Territory. Once again the technique was a success. Steve Starling explains exactly how to rig your plastics to be able to acheive these results.
You might not live near barramundi waterways, but this episode will give you inspiration to experiment with weedless plastics on your home waters. Bass, mangrove jacks, bream and cod will all respond to plastics rigged in this manner. You will also be able to fish in places that you wouldn't be able to cast a bait or lure into. VERY EXCITING! Give it a go!
